Our shoreline was home to the Northland Steamboat. The Steamboat was first used for logging by its owner Mr. Thomas Welsh just before 1900. Thomas Welsh, father to Mary who was married to Ernest Hemingway.

The Northland steamboat was then used for tourism in the early 1900’s as seen in the above picture. The Steamboat would take people on Leech Lake cruises to enjoy a day on the lake.It would return to this location to dock.
